To enroll in the LICQual Level 3 Award in International Lifeguard Qualification applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Educational Requirements: Applicants must have completed secondary school education or equivalent. Basic knowledge of health, safety, and emergency procedures is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Fitness & Health: Applicants must be in good physical health and able to meet the physical demands of lifeguard duties, including endurance, strength, and stamina. A medical clearance may be required in some cases.
  • Swimming Ability: Applicants must be competent swimmers, able to swim at least 200 meters continuously, tread water for a minimum of 2 minutes, and demonstrate safe diving techniques.
  • English Language Proficiency: As the course is delivered in English, learners must have a basic command of the language to understand instructions.

To achieve a ‘Pass’ in any unit, learners must provide valid, sufficient, and authentic evidence demonstrating their attainment of all learning outcomes and compliance with the prescribed assessment criteria. The Assessor is responsible for evaluating the evidence and determining whether the learner has successfully met the required standards.

Assessors must maintain a clear and comprehensive audit trail, documenting the basis for their assessment decisions to ensure transparency, consistency, and compliance with quality assurance requirements.
