Signalman
The LICQual Level 1 Award in Signalman provides learners with foundational training in signaling for construction, transport, and related industries. This course equips learners with essential knowledge and practical skills to manage traffic, communicate effectively, and ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, materials, and personnel on site.
Over two days, learners engage in both theoretical and hands-on modules covering signalman responsibilities, basic communication techniques, safety protocols, and the correct use of signaling equipment. Emphasis is placed on practical application, allowing learners to gain confidence in applying signaling procedures accurately in real-world scenarios.
Throughout the program, learners develop a comprehensive understanding of operational safety, traffic control, and on-site communication strategies. Upon completion, learners will hold a recognized qualification that demonstrates their ability to perform as competent signalmen, providing a strong foundation for career progression and further professional development in signaling and site operations.

This diploma is ideal for:
Assessment and Verification
All units within this qualification are subject to internal assessment by the approved centre and external verification by LICQual. The qualification follows a criterion-referenced assessment approach, ensuring that learners meet all specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘Pass’ in any unit, learners must provide valid, sufficient, and authentic evidence demonstrating their attainment of all learning outcomes and compliance with the prescribed assessment criteria. The Assessor is responsible for evaluating the evidence and determining whether the learner has successfully met the required standards.
Assessors must maintain a clear and comprehensive audit trail, documenting the basis for their assessment decisions to ensure transparency, consistency, and compliance with quality assurance requirements.
